ジャック・ローワンの最新インタビューが届いたので、さっそく翻訳してみました。
「Square Mile」というメンズ系情報サイトが取材したインタビューです。
ジャックくんの最新情報から個人的な話題まで、幅広く充実した内容が嬉しいです。
2回に分けてアップします。
先ずは、「Life」について。
ここでは最新情報や自分のキャリア、さらに、趣味や子供の頃の憧れのヒーローなどを熱く語ります。
それにしても、ジャックくんはサッカーとプロレスが大好きで、そんないかにも”男子”な趣味が素直というか何というか…。
ちなみに、私はどちらも全く興味がありません…。

What upcoming project(s) are you most excited about?
これからのプロジェクトで最も楽しみなものは何ですか？
All of them! I have a movie I lead called Boys From County Hell which is out in August. It was an absolute honour to be apart of this film and I made countless memories on and off screen. I can’t help but giggle and grin when I come across old pictures and videos from the shoot. Also, my old man’s Irish so it was extra special to be able to take an accent I’ve heard my whole life and put it out there on screen.

僕が主役を務める映画『Boys From County Hell』が、８月に公開されます。
この作品に参加できて本当に光栄だし、スクリーンの中でも外でも数えきれない思い出が出来ました。
撮影のときの古い写真やビデオを見ると、ついニヤケてしまいます。
それに、僕の親父がアイルランド人なので、ずっと聞いてきたアクセントを使って、それをスクリーンで再現できたことは格別でした。
After Boys From County Hell is series three of the children’s animation Moominvalley. I’ve been given the opportunity to take over as the new voice of Moomintroll. This job came around after the first Covid lockdown.
『Boys From County Hell』の後は、子供向けアニメ『ムーミン谷のなかまたち』シーズン3があり、僕は新しくムーミントロールの声を引き継がせてもらっています。
この仕事は、最初のコロナ・ロックダウンの後に巡ってきました。
I know I’m far from unique when it comes to personal battles in my head, but at a time where I really needed it, Moomintroll came soaring down with a message of hope and gave me my inspiration and confidence back. I’ll always be thankful to him and all of those people that made it possible, so I’m extremely excited to hear my voice come of his mouth.
誰しも何か思い悩むことはあると思いますが、ちょうど僕が必要としていた時に、ムーミントロールは希望のメッセージとともに舞い降りてきて、僕にインスピレーションと自信を取り戻させてくれました。
僕は、彼とそれを可能にしてくれた人々に、いつも感謝しています。
そして、彼の口から僕の声が聞けることが本当に楽しみです。
Lastly, as I’m writing this, I’m in South Africa filming season two of Noughts and Crosses. I hold the show and the character of Callum McGregor very close to my heart, so being able to continue Callum’s journey is a huge blessing. I’m proud of everyones hard work in series two so far and I can’t wait for it to be out in the world for all to see.
最後に、これを書いている今、僕は『Noughts + Crosses』シーズン2の撮影で南アフリカにいます。
僕はこの作品とカラム・マクレガーというキャラクターを大事に思っているので、カラムの旅が続けられることは大きな喜びです。
シーズン2を頑張っている皆を誇りに思うし、世界中で観られるようになる日が待ち遠しいです。
What is your proudest professional accomplishment?
プロとして最も誇りに思う功績は何ですか？
My proudest professional accomplishment is simply landing my first job! There was a point in time where I was at my Saturday drama class and it clicked. I realised I wanted to be an actor but what came after that was a whole load of battles and questions. How do I go from being in this hall to actually being in the TV box?!
プロとして最も誇りに思う功績は、シンプルに最初の仕事を獲得したことです！
土曜の演劇クラスにいたときに、ピンときたんです。
僕は俳優になりたいのは分かったけれど、多くの戦いや疑問が後から付いてきました。
どうすればこの状況から実際にテレビの中に入ることができるのか？！
Thankfully YPTC (my drama class) got me a self tape audition and after two further auditions, the Silent Witness team took a risk on me and it seemed to pay off. The confidence I got from landing, filming and completing that job has been the catalyst for all that’s followed.
ありがたいことに、YPTC（僕の演劇クラス）が、僕にセルフテープのオーディションと、後から二つのオーディションを受けさせてくれて、『サイレント・ウィットネス』のチームが僕に賭けてくれて、それが功を奏したようです。
その仕事をもらって、撮影をし、やり遂げた自信は、その後に続く全てのきっかけになりました。
If you could change one thing about your career, what would it be?
もし一つだけあなたのキャリアを変えることができるとしたら、それは何ですか？
A short and sweet cliche…NOTHING.

What do you hope to achieve that you haven’t yet?
まだ達成していないことで、成し遂げたいと望むものは何ですか？
I hope to one day look back at a body of work and say that I’ve had the opportunity to play many vastly different characters. I’ve done it as much as I can so far but with being relatively early on in my career there’s only so much I’ve had the opportunity to do.
いつか自分の出演作品を振り返ってみて、ありとあらゆるキャラクターを演じる機会に恵まれたと言えたらいいなと思います。
僕はこれまでもできる限りやっていますが、まだ相対的にキャリアが浅いので、機会が限られています。
As I grow as a person and actor, hopefully there’s a chance to explore some weird and wonderful character’s down the line. I don’t quite know what they are yet!
人として、俳優として成長する中で、この先、奇妙で素晴らしいキャラクターを探求するチャンスがあればいいなと。

Outside of your family, who is / was your biggest inspiration?
家族以外で最も影響を受けた人は誰ですか？
Growing up, my ultimate hero was Rey Mysterio, at the time I’m sure my simple mind just liked him because of his masks, colourful attire and exciting high flying style. However, I write this now as an adult and realise it was so much more.
子どもの頃の僕の最大のヒーローはレイ・ミステリオで、当時は、単純に彼のマスクやカラフルな衣装やハイ・フライング・スタイルが好きだったのだと思います。
でも、これを書いている今は大人になったので、それだけではないと気づいています。
He was the little guy that never backed down from a challenge, he taught me in his own way that there is no such depth to which we can’t recover and no matter how big the obstacle is in front of us we should never be afraid.
彼は小さい男でしたが、決して挑戦から逃げず、彼は彼のやり方で、我々が立ち直れないどん底などない、たとえどんなに大きな障害が我々の前に立ちはだかろうと、決して恐れるなということを僕に教えてくれました。
You’ll get there, be true to yourself and do things your way, dare to be great and give anything in life that’s causing you stress or worry a swift 619, cheers Rey!

Following on from the theme of my last answer I have a very fruitful collection of WWE Action Figures because they were literally the only thing I ever wanted growing up and I’ve kept them all to this day. I have your man Rey Mysterio in many different outfits!
先ほどの回答に関連していますが、僕はWWEのアクション・フィギュアの充実したコレクションを持っています、子どもの頃、唯一欲しかったものがそれなので、今も全部キープしています。
レイ・ミステリオは違う衣装のもたくさん持っています！
Every now and then I whip them out and give them a move around and release my inner child. I always justify it in my brain because I can claim it as a good tool to practise different accents…you know, because I’m an actor and all that…
時々、声をかけたり動かしたりして、自分の内なる子どもを解放しています。
僕はいつもそれを脳内で正当化しています、なぜなら、違うアクセントの練習をするためのよいツールになると主張できるから…、そう、僕は俳優なので…
