「viewties」という、イギリスの電子版芸能雑誌のジャックくんインタビューの中から、『Benjamin』について語ってくれている部分を翻訳してみました。

Can you tell us more about Simon Amstell’s fantastic gay coming-of-age film Benjamin?
サイモン・アムステル監督の素晴らしいゲイの青春映画『Benjamin』について聞かせてもらえますか？
It’s a beautiful movie made by some truly beautiful people. I loved every second of it and I’m beyond proud to have been a part of it. From the first time reading the script I knew I just had to be in this movie in someway, because I enjoyed reading it so much and after meeting Simon Amstell in the audition process it only added to that feeling because he was such legend and I wanted to work him him. I shall hold my tongue or in this case my typing of letters, as I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, but urge anyone reading this to go find Benjamin and watch it! I have no doubt you’ll enjoy it.
この映画は、本当に素晴らしい人々によって作られた素敵な映画です。
どの瞬間も気に入っているし、参加できたことをとても誇りに思っています。
僕は、最初に脚本を読んだときから、この映画に何かしらの形で加わらなければと思いました。
なぜなら、読むのがとても楽しくて、サイモン・アムステルとオーディションで会った後は、彼のような伝説の人と一緒に仕事をしたいという気持ちが沸きました。
まだ観ていない人にはネタバレしたくないので、僕は黙っておきますが、でも、これを読んでいる人みんなに『Benjamin』を観ることをおススメします！

How was it getting into character and can you say about how you prepared to portray the character?
キャラクターを演じてみてどうでした？役を演じるのにどんな準備をしましたか？
Benjamin terrified the hell out of me because it was the first time so far in my career where I had to do comedy. Don’t get me wrong, Benjamin at its core is a movie filled with very tender and soft moments as well as the moments of laughter, but my character is very much there to have audience think what an absolute d**k! It was indeed so lot of fun playing someone who is extremely arrogant and will stop at nothing to be the centre of everyone’s attention.

誤解しないでほしいのは、『Benjamin』の核となるのは、笑える映画であるとともに、とても優しくてソフトな雰囲気に満ちた映画ですが、でも、僕のキャラクターは、観客に「なんだこいつは！」と思わせる役どころなんです。
とんでもなく傲慢で、みんなの注目を集めるなら何だってやるようなヤツを演じるのはとても楽しかったです。
